Today’s Harbor for Children, formerly Boys and Girls harbor, doesn’t just provide a residential facility, it provides a home. This environment provides stability and comfort for children coming from circumstances outside of their control. Each child placed at Today’s Harbor for Children is welcomed into a cottage on campus with two adults, siblings, family meals, chores and all the surroundings they need to be a part of that family. The house parents act as mentors, providing guidance and stability by offering to help with homework, enforcing house rules and delegating chores. The expansive campus also includes a charter school, gym, baseball field, playgrounds, and a working farm. We offer young people a sense of true belonging by addressing all of their needs right here in our community.
Today’s Harbor for Children is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization licensed as a General Residential Operation (GRO) by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to serve up to 88 children. Today’s Harbor for Children is not a Residential Treatment Center (RTC). Therefore, we do not serve children who have serious emotional or behavioral needs requiring a more restrictive environment or medical supervision.
Each year Today’s Harbor for Children cares for over a hundred children. Since its inception, thousands of children have called Today’s Harbor for Children their home.
