  • Galveston Residential Non Profit Homes

Many people are surprised to hear that there are still children’s homes around, and even more surprised to learn that one is right here in our community! Today’s Harbor for Children is one of the oldest Galveston residential children’s homes in the area. We were established in 1947 and have grown significantly over the years. Our purpose is to help children in need lead safe, healthy and stable lives during their transition.

What Types of Children Live at Our Galveston Non Profit Children’s Homes?

Children come to our non profit children’s homes in Galveston TX in one of two ways. Some children are placed voluntary at Today’s Harbor for Children until their family dynamics improve. This does not mean they are giving up custody, and we hope to reunite these children with their families. We turn no child away based on race, ethnicity, background or financial standing.

The second way that children come to our Galveston residential children’s homes is through Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. These children sometimes end up staying longer because they have been removed from their home. Today’s Harbor for Children is proud to be their home, whether they stay for a few months or until they are 18.

Our approach goes beyond just a “home”. We are giving children back something invaluable–their childhood.

What Services are Offered at Today’s Harbor for Children?

One of the most important things to our non profit children’s homes in Galveston TX is that we provide as normal of a life as possible for our children. While it’s crucial that we offer the essentials – food, clothing, shelter – we want to be more than that. We ARE more than that.
